Deep in the metal underworld,
Where veins run black with tar;
And bones of iron, hearts of rust
Fuel a dying star.
A hand reaches in the night
Where beings never dream,
And pulls the metal lever back
Releasing the machines.
What have we unleashed upon ourselves?
Did our salvation make way for hell?
Cast upon our knees they reign supreme–
Doomed to be the organs of machines.
They gave them an elixir,
A silver to oppress;
But thirst ran deeper than they knew
Craving human flesh.
Fathom an infinity
Of steel and chain and fire;
A never ending solemn roar–
A screaming metal choir.
What have we unleashed upon ourselves?
Did our salvation make way for hell?
Cast upon our knees they reign supreme–
Doomed to be the organs of machines.
Blistered fingers, drying tongues
Have all long since fallen rot.
Nameless makers of the dark
That these beings have forgot.
Who knows what galaxies they'll find–
How far that their claws will reach.
Until the universe turns grey
Believe that their work will never cease.
(Never cease)
What have we unleashed upon ourselves?
Did our salvation make way for hell?
Cast upon our knees they reign supreme–
Doomed to be the organs
Doomed to be the organs
Doomed to be the organs of machines.

Come a little bit closer,
I want to feel cause talk is cheap.
I'd rather grieve than feel nothing at all.
I'm praying for refuge
From the monsters in my sleep.
My mind is tired, my body is worn.
This time, this time
I'm gonna make it right.
And I might just pull through.
Feel it shudder and falter
Like an ocean made of glass.
One moment it's whole and the next it is gone.
I'm waiting on hours
But only minutes seem to pass
I'll pick up these pieces I must carry on.
This time, this time
I'm gonna make it right.
And I might just pull through.
In dark waters lilies grow–
Will I falter on my own?
(My own)
This time, this time
I'm gonna make it right.
And I might just pull through.
(If I want to)
Come a little bit closer
I want to feel cause talk is cheap.
Are you the monster in my sleep?
One moment I'm whole, the next I am ... gone.

Scrying Stone

Hand of mercy, face of foe–
These woven mysteries we'll never know,
As if the pages have been painted black.
Snow has fallen filled the steps
Of those who trod before us, those who wept,
Those who knew we'd not be coming back.
Upon the marble stone
The names of the disowned I scry.
Marked in blood, a good enough sacrifice–
Pray it will redeem my soul.
Pour another drink in kind
Is there no thought or reason to this rhyme?
Just another poison to consume.
Memories that once resound have carved the thorns that 'dorn this crown.
And conjure shadows that foretell of doom.
Upon the marble stone
The names of the disowned I scry.
Marked in blood, a good enough sacrifice–
Pray it will redeem my soul.
Although I'd die beside you,
I want to–
I ought to.
Maybe they'll see what we knew,
I will do–
I need to.
Although I'd die beside you,
I want to–
I ought to.
Maybe they'll see what we knew,
I will do–
I need to.
